Decanter Centrifuges

Like all centrifuges, Westfalia Separator decanters use the action of centrifugal force to separate components of a mixture having different densities. Clarification or separation is accomplished in a horizontally rotating bowl.  The bowl of the Westfalia Separator decanter consists of a cylindrical section and a conical section. The product enters the decanter through a feed tube, and is fed into the bowl through a preselected distribution chamber. As the bowl rotates, the solids quickly settle against the walls of the rotating bowl. A screw conveyor (scroll), rotating at a slightly higher speed than the bowl, moves the solids through the conical section to the solids discharge. At the same time, the liquid phase flows through the cylindrical section to the liquid discharge and can be discharged by gravity or pressure.  Westfalia Separator decanters come in a wide range of sizes incorporating patented and proprietary design features enhancing performance for specific applications.  Liquid discharge can be by gravity or pressure discharge with some models incorporating Westfalia’s patented Vari-Pond® technology (automatic pond depth adjustment).
